Duration

Our support can range from short-term (to integrate measuring capacity development: 2-4 weeks) to longer-term guidance (your project or program length plus initial preparation and time for final evaluation).

Our Approach

At the heart of our approach to measuring capacity development lie: 

  1. Our regenerative approach to evaluation, with its emphasis on strengthening the capacities within individuals as well as the relationships between them.
  2. Our holistic model for measuring capacity development, consolidating more than 100 academic assessments and qualitative methods. 

The intention behind our model is not to tell you what to measure, but rather to make existing academic knowledge and practitioner expertise accessible to you. It provides you with the language to describe inner capacity development – the fundamentals for strong teamwork and achieving your goals. 

We do this by: 

  • Jointly defining key capacities that you wish to focus on in your team and leadership development, or within training programs you offer. 
  • Developing short and engaging surveys based on academic assessments to measure capacities relevant to you.
  • Supporting you with the analysis and interpretation of the results. 
  • Supporting you to embed capacity development in wider Theories of Change, strategic workstreams, and reports to external stakeholders.
Building on the benefits of the impact evaluation Unity Effect conducted for the programme in 2022, the organizing team pursued a similar analysis for its 2023 edition. This continuation permitted us to identify common trends and build on key recommendations, whilst also preserving the uniqueness of each edition and participant. The team continues to rely on Unity Effect’s expertise to adapt future editions.
