Why this Journey and Why Now

At Unity Effect, we observe the signals of regeneration in team collaboration, departmental self-organisation, and leadership that prioritizes learning over control. Real, transformative change is occurring, impacting not only these teams and organisations themselves, but entire sectors. However, traditional measurement and evaluation methods often fail to capture these crucial signals, focusing on easily quantifiable metrics rather than the nuanced, relational changes that signify true transformation. This disparity inspired our journey to redefine evaluation as a regenerative practice, leading to the creation of Regenerative Signal.

What is the Regenerative Signal?

The Regenerative Signal is a comprehensive learning journey designed to embody a relational, life-centered approach to evaluation. It empowers organizations to "measure what matters" and transform evaluation into a dynamic, living learning practice. This journey integrates live sessions, access to resources, self-directed learning modules, and practical tools to facilitate the application of theoretical concepts. It gives you the tools and confidence to tell a compelling story about your impact, backed by a methodology that honors your work's complexity.

We offer Regenerative Signal as a customised, in-house consultancy (book a consultation here), or you can join our annual free learning journey.

Why Traditional Evaluation Falls Short

Conventional evaluation methodologies, rooted in industrial paradigms, are linear and mechanistic. They prioritize inputs and outputs, treating organizations as machines rather than complex ecosystems. This approach often overlooks the emergent properties and relational dynamics essential to transformative work. To truly assess regenerative organizations and their wider impact, evaluation approaches must align with their values and inherent complexity. This realization led to the development of our core methodology, the Impact Garden, which forms the foundation of Regenerative Signal.

The Regenerative Signal Journey

Regenerative Signal transforms evaluation from a burdensome task into a process of insight and growth. It offers a structured yet flexible approach to impact measurement, breaking down complex concepts into manageable, meaningful steps to build confidence and capability.

The interactive journey unfolds through three core phases:

  • Design & Measure: This phase focuses on mapping success, designing participatory evaluation frameworks, establishing key indicators, and gathering meaningful evidence.
  • Reflect & Evaluate: Participants learn to create a culture of evaluation in teams and organisations, interpret outcomes and impacts, share insights, and gain clarity.
  • Recognise & Celebrate: This phase emphasizes acknowledging achievements, celebrating efforts, and inspiring future action.

Our Methodology: Regenerative Evaluation with the Impact Garden and Capacity Compass

At the core of Regenerative Signal is the Impact Garden, an open-source, adaptable framework refined through extensive practical application. It has been:

  • Used to evaluate €1.5M+ in investments
  • Utilised by 500+ evaluators, project leads, investors and business owners

The Impact Garden emphasizes the cyclical, evolving nature of real change. It guides users in nurturing supportive conditions (the soil), designing effective learning loops (the irrigation system), and maintaining curiosity about unfolding outcomes and systemic shifts.

Complementing this methodology is the Capacity Compass, which operates on a powerful principle: thriving individuals, teams, and systems are built upon a set of foundational human capacities. Dynamic qualities —ways of being, relating, sensing, and acting— which evolve and can be developed.

The model integrates systems thinking, integral theory, complexity science, psychology, and contemplative/indigenous knowledge.

The Learning Environment

Transforming evaluation requires more than new frameworks; it demands a conducive environment for learning and growth. Our comprehensive ecosystem supports diverse learning styles and stages of development, combining meaningful live interaction with permanent resource access, asynchronous learning, and practical support for transferring insights into action.

The learning environment includes:

  • Live workshops: Facilitating knowledge dissemination, practical application, discussion, and peer learning for collective sensemaking.
  • E-learning modules: Providing in-depth exploration of frameworks at a self-determined pace.
  • Plug-and-play tools: Offering ready-to-use templates and resources for immediate implementation.
  • Templates: Delivering practical guides to streamline measurement and evaluation processes.
  • Peer community: Connecting like-minded organizations and leaders on a shared journey.

Does This Sound Familiar? "We struggle to make good evaluation stick"

If you are finding it difficult to measure the real, nuanced value of your work, you are not alone.

In our 2025 cohort - comprising mostly Founders, CEOs, and Program Leads - the single biggest challenge was this exact struggle . But the data revealed a deeper, more specific tension:

Even though many participants have experienced evaluation processes that were participatory and learning-oriented (avg. score 3.5), they still struggle to capture what truly matters (avg. score 3.9).

This points to the real challenge: it's not just about finding better methods. It's about bridging the gap between a one-time positive experience and a lasting, embedded organizational practice.

The Transformation: What You Will Learn

Our learning journey is designed to solve this exact problem: how to make good evaluation stick.

We move beyond theory to focus on the mindset, tools, and language needed to embed a regenerative approach into your team's DNA. The journey empowers you to:

  • Start with what matters: We help you weave through the overwhelm of data and focus on what is truly meaningful to measure. The goal is to drive reflection and learning, not just compliance.
  • Shift your mindset: You'll learn to move from rigid, results-based reporting to a more valuable, adaptive practice, thinking in spirals, not straight lines.
  • Use regenerative tools: You will get hands-on with practical frameworks like the Impact Garden and Capacity Compass to see and measure growth as multi-dimensional and interconnected.
  • Harness the power of language: Discover how ecological metaphors and visuals help your team view your systems as alive, interconnected, and full of potential.
  • Move from reporting to rippling: We guide you in designing evaluation systems that serve you, allowing insights to ripple outward and strengthen your programs, teams, and strategy.

Who Is This Journey For?

This journey is designed for you if you resonate with any of the following challenges:

  • We’re doing good work, but no one sees it."
Learn to identify and articulate your real impact, moving beyond superficial reporting.

Generate actionable insights without creating reporting fatigue. Our tools are designed for seamless integration into existing workflows and are accessible to non-specialists.
  • "Evaluation feels like a tick-box exercise."
Utilize intuitive, people-first tools inspired by nature to make measurement and evaluation both useful and energizing.
  • "External evaluators don’t get our context."
Develop internal evaluation capacity, enabling your team to reflect, learn, and communicate impact from an intrinsic perspective.

Our cohorts typically include leaders and teams from:

  • Foundations & Investors for Systemic Change seeking to measure long-term, relational impact.
  • Multilateral & International Aid Organisations needing to evaluate complex, global initiatives.
